Now you can convince anyone they're on your Close Friends list.
When Instagram released its Close Friends feature in late 2018, online friendships became even more complicated. Social expectation dictates that if someone adds you to their Close Friends list, it's just polite to add them back. Like finstas, the content posted to the Close Friends list tends to be more personal than public Instagram stories and posts.
But if you want to mess with petty followers, add a Close Friends sticker to your Instagram story.

Andrew Cushing, a creative director who's been dabbling in using Adobe programs, designed the sticker after not finding similar ones on Giphy.
"I could understand how someone might feel compelled to add someone to their list as a way to return the favor," he said through Twitter DM. "I think it [the sticker] could be fun to add to really bland stories, like landscapes or food photos. The 'Close Friends' list seems to be used for sensitive or exclusive content, so the sticker would add a layer of credibility to images that are otherwise pretty boring."
Some Twitter users thought it was hilarious.
