Actress and activist Rose McGowan, who was among the first to publicly accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, will star in her own documentary series to premiere on E! this month. Citizen Rosewill follow McGowan, now a prominent face and voice in the movement to end sexual misconduct in Hollywood and beyond.
SEE ALSO: The women of Hollywood have a plan to fight back – and not just in HollywoodThe show premieres in conjunction with McGowan's memoir Brave, which is set to release on Jan. 30. After the premiere, the remaining four episodes will air in spring.
Within a week of the first breaking Weinstein news, McGowan's Twitter account was suspended, drawing uproar from her supporters (Twitter explained why in a statement). She remained at the forefront of the #MeToo movement after her suspension and rallied her supporters into #ROSEARMY and a full feminist revolution.
In the book, McGowan details her experience in Hollywood, much of which included being ruthlessly sexualized for profit and publicity – a system which she outright rejected.
“Rose McGowan’s courage in addressing sexual abuse and harassment in Hollywood ignited a conversation and inspired other women to speak out against their abusers,” said E’s Executive Vice President, Development and Production, per Entertainment Weekly. “We look forward to taking viewers inside this talented, dynamic woman’s world as the first allegations unfold and she becomes a leading voice in a critical cultural change.”
