How to mute or unmute an account on Instagram
Looking to clean up your Instagram timeline to see more posts you actually want to see? We've got you covered.
Maybe the group chat is going off in the DMs but you stopped caring an hour ago. Is there someone you really don't want to see on your feed for a bit? Or are there Instagram Stories you just don't want appearing at the top of your feed?

How to mute someone in DMs on Instagram
1. Tap the arrow in the top right corner to go to your DMs
Tap the DM arrow in the top right corner of your feed Credit: Andy Moser / Instagram 2. Tap the chat of the person you want to mute
3. Tap their name at the top of the chat page
4. Tap the switches at the top and make sure they're blue to mute the person's messages and/or call notifications
5. To unmute, uncheck the switches and make sure they're back to gray

1. Tap the dotted icon in the top right corner of the person's post you want to mute
2. Tap "Hide"

5. To unmute, go to the person's profile and follow the steps below
How to mute someone's on their Instagram profile
1. Go to the person's profile you want to mute
2. Tap "Following" under their name and bio
For example, here's how I'd mute Ariana Grande (gasp! I would never) Credit: Andy Moser / Instagram 3. Tap "Mute"

5. To unmute, uncheck the switches and make sure they're back to gray

1. Tap and hold the Instagram story you want to mute at the top of your feed
Tap "Mute"
Tap "Mute story"
