Hey, everyone, please shut up about Melania Trump's shoes

There are many things to be concerned about right now in Texas. Melania Trump's stilettos are notone of them.

As the Trumps made their way to Air Force One on Tuesday morning to travel to Corpus Cristi, Texas, Twitter users couldn't help but comment that the first lady's choice of footwear wasn't appropriate under the circumstances.

Many called her fashion choice ignorant, considering the trip was part of disaster relief, but taking the time to troll Melania's heels isn't particularly productive either.

After photographs of the two boarding Air Force One in Maryland started appearing online, people noticed that Donald was wearing a rain jacket and boots, while Melania donned fashionable cropped pants and stilettos.

People couldn't help but call out the fact that the bold fashion choice seemed a bit insensitive to the disaster victims in Texas.

The heels have caused such a stir in fact, that multiple photographs of just them have made their way to the wires. Really, people?

When there are much more serious problems in the world — like, you know, THE STORM — I can't help but wonder: Why the heck are we talking about shoes?

Here are some reasons why we should just let this one go:

Melania had a change of shoes on Air Force One. By the time they landed in Corpus Christi, where Harvey made landfall, she'd changed into white sneakers.
Some Houston residents have lost everything, a city has been completely displaced, and the death count from the storm is still rising. In comparison, this debate over appropriate footwear is utterly meaningless and isn't helping anyone.

According to a tweet from CNN's Kate Bennett, Melania's communications director released a statement condemning the criticism amidst an ongoing natural disaster.

In the past the Trumps have made it veryeasy for people to troll them, what with everything from controversial magazine covers to pardoning convicted former sheriff Joe Arpaio right before Harvey "for the ratings." We get it. But there's a time and a place for criticism and for calling out behavior so inappropriate and disrespectful that it can't possibly be ignored.

The time is not now. Now, the focus should remain on Houston, not heels.
